In February, the IRC in Salt Lake City, alongside community partners, hosted two virtual events, the Food Entrepreneur Round Table and the New American Dream Lab, to engage refugee and new American entrepreneurs. The events were generously sponsored and presented by Comcast.

Ranna Jajju, owner of Threading by Ranna in Linda Vista, is a former refugee from Iraq, who resettled to San Diego back in 2009. Since then, she has opened up two businesses and most recently shined as a stellar example as a small business leadership and resilience during a global pandemic.

Ali Amry prepares to launch his food business with support from classes offered by the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City, including a Social Media Marketing Workshop series. Since then, he has learned about promotional email strategy and built out a social media presence.
