8,300 refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan are living in deplorable conditions in an overcrowded refugee camp in Moria, on the island of Lesbos, Greece. Most are in the process of making asylum claims after feeling danger in their countries, but shortages and high tension in the camp are making life unsafe in the camp.

IRC president David Miliband recently spoke at TED 2017 about the global refugee crisis, proposing four solutions to the crisis, and sharing his own personal connection to the refugee experience.

Hafiza, 21, was born while her family was on the run, fleeing violence in South Sudan. Today she works with the IRC in a refugee camp in Ethiopia, providing support to women survivors of violence and abuse, and campaigning for women’s rights.
