IRC Refugee Support Volunteer - Recruiting
As a Refugee Support Volunteer you will be paired with an IRC Caseworker to help provide support to newly arrived refugee families. Volunteers will be assigned to one of the following specific roles: Transportation Ambassador, Grocery Shopping Assistant, Laundry Access Assistant, Child Watch Assistant, or Activities and Integration Assistant. As such, you will be expected to learn about the IRC (history, scope of work, values, etc.), our clients, and core services. All activities will be done in coordination with office staff and under the supervision of the Casework team.
IRC Missoula Immigration Intern - Position Currently Filled
Immigration Interns assist clients with the processing and filing of applications for lawful permanent residence, family reunification, affidavits of relationship, and other immigration petitions necessary to receive legal residency in the United States.
IRC Missoula Communications Intern - Position Currently Filled
As a communications intern you will be responsible for assisting in the community outreach and communication strategy for the International Rescue Committee in Missoula. You can expect to work on projects as varied as fundraising campaigns to advocacy drives, anywhere that specific messaging is needed. As such, you will be expected to learn about the IRC (history, scope of work, values, ect.), our clients, and trends in refugee resettlement in order to communicate to a variety of audiences in a manner consistent with our messaging. All communication activities will be done in coordination with office staff and under the supervision of the Development Coordinator.
IRC Missoula Resource Development Intern - Position Currently Filled
As a resource development intern you will be responsible for assisting the Development Coordinator with various aspects of fundraising, event planning, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and handling in-kind donations. Tasks may include recording donations and responding to donors, answering volunteer inquiries, maintaining records of volunteers and their service hours, processing donations of goods and assisting with the in-kind inventory management. As such, you will be expected to learn about the IRC (history, scope of work, values, etc.), our clients, and core services. All activities will be done in coordination with office staff and under the supervision of the Development Coordinator.
IRC Missoula Employment Volunteer - Recruiting
One of the programs IRC Missoula offers is the Matching Grant Program – a case management program that offers critical support for work eligible adults in developing job skills and assistance in the job placement process. As an Employment Support Volunteer, you will support the Senior Employment Specialist and Employment team with various aspects of employment. Duties include but are not limited to assisting refugees with job training provided by employers, facilitating job readiness activities, assisting refugees with attending job interviews, and occasional administrative support such as filing, documentation, and helping clients with paperwork. As such, you will be expected to learn about the IRC (history, scope of work, values, etc.), our clients, and core services. All activities will be done in coordination with the office staff and under the supervision of the Senior Employment Specialist.
IRC Missoula Casework Intern - Recruiting
Casework Interns help refugee families work towards self sufficiency in the areas of health, employment, financial literacy, education and housing. Casework interns work closely with the casework staff throughout their internship, assisting and learning about all aspects of the casework program.
IRC Missoula Transportation Ambassador - Recruiting
Transportation Ambassadors assist IRC casework staff in showing refugee families how to get around town on the Mountain line! Newly arriving families do not have cars, and so assisting them in mastering the public transit is crucial for the freedom to get around and part of how we empower them to become self sufficient. Transportation Ambassadors will work closely with casework staff to schedule trainings with clients and helping them get to and from appointments and other key locations in Missoula.
IRC Missoula Child Care Placement Intern - Recruiting
Help newly arrived refugees achieve self-sufficiency and independence by helping them secure child care, after-school programming, summer camp and other early education opportunities, enabling caregivers to work and attend school.
IRC Missoula Employment Intern - Recruiting
Help newly arrived refugees obtain employment in Missoula! Employment interns teach refugees the skills to navigate the job search process and assist in the following areas: job search, job applications, follow-up on applications and interviews, new hire paperwork and assistance with transportation routes to their place of employment.
Volunteer process
Complete a volunteer application. Make sure to specify your volunteer interests.
Get to know the IRC. Once you have submitted your application, you will be invited to complete an interview.
After your application is reviewed, you may be selected for an interview.
Fill out a background check form. Once your background check has been cleared, IRC staff will contact you to discuss your placement. Background checks cost $65. The IRC respectfully asks volunteers to make a donation in this amount or more to compensate for the cost of their background checks. The volunteer placement process takes about 2-4 weeks.
