RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision: Provide constant and attentive supervision to children during their time in the child watch area.
Safety: Ensure the safety and security of children, including monitoring play areas and equipment.
Engagement: Engage children in age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to promote social and cognitive development.
Behavior Management: Encourage positive behavior and address any disruptive or unsafe conduct following established guidelines.
Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with parents or guardians regarding their child's well-being and any relevant updates.
Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized child watch area, including disinfecting toys and equipment regularly.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Volunteers in this role will develop the following skills and knowledge:
· Child Care Skills: Gaining experience in caring for and engaging with children.
· Safety Awareness: Learning to ensure a safe environment for children.
· Communication: Enhancing communication skills, particularly when dealing with parents or guardians.
· Teamwork: Collaborating with other volunteers and staff for a cohesive child watch experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Availability Options:
- Watch children during Cultural Orientation classes: Wednesday and/or Thursdays 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Watch children during ELL classes: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 9 AM- 11 AM Emergent class, 11 AM- 1 PM Basic class, or 3 PM-5 PM Intermediate/Advanced class
- Flexible hours based on needs from various teams (You do not need to be available for all times listed above in order to volunteer)
- Patience, attentiveness, and a caring attitude towards children
- AZ Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (Email Volunteer Coordinator if you need instructions on how to apply)
- Experience with cross-cultural communication
- Assure parents sign-children in
- Complete incident and accident reports as necessary
- IRC Background check
- First Aid certification preferred
