ESL Tutors work one-on-one with a refugee individual as they build their English language skills. Students will include those who are unable to attend ESL classes because they are working or providing childcare and those who are attending classes and would benefit from additional support. 

Location: 

Off-site in the Denver Metro area: volunteer and client can decide on a location that works well 

Time Commitment: 

This position requires a minimum commitment of six months with 1-2 hours per week; 

Skills & Qualifications: 

ESL Tutors should have a strong desire to work with diverse populations and demonstrate patience with English language learners. Formal ESL training or previous experience is not required. The IRC in Denver will provide training and a curriculum for all tutors. Language support will focus on practical day-to-day English skills and acquisition.

Please note that volunteers must undergo a background check for which we ask a donation of $49.  All staff and volunteers at the IRC must be vaccinated against the COVID 19 virus and agree to wear a mask when interacting with clients.
