Fleet Management Support Volunteer

Start date: Ongoing

The Administration Department provides support for front line staff. One of our most important jobs is keeping the vans running, stocked, and clean so that staff can provide safe, comfortable, sanitized transportation for our clients. The Fleet Management Support Volunteer does not interact directly with clients but supports the Administration Specialist. Together we make sure staff has what they need to best serve our clients.

Routine tasks include, but are not limited to, a weekly check of van condition and addressing found needs such as: cleaning out trash, sweeping, stocking ‘go kits’, making sure there are working pens for the van log, adding new blank pages to the log when they’re getting low, making sure there are sanitizing wipes and other supplies for disinfecting as needed, cleaning windows, wiping down the dashboard, etc., and reporting any other issues to the Admin Specialist. In general, you will be making sure that the vans are ready for another week. Other duties and special projects will arise.

The Fleet Management Support Volunteer will be transporting supplies from the 4th floor to the vans in the parking lot. Because the vans are in an open area with no shade, the weekly schedule will be reduced during hot months. The vans are large, 15 passenger vehicles which require the ability to step up and climb into the interior. This position does not involve driving vans, only in helping to maintain them. IRC has well established COVID safety protocols for the protection of our clients, volunteers, and staff, which includes wearing masks when in our office and vehicles.

Join us in supporting IRC’s mission to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future.
