Resettlement Support Volunteer
Resettlement Support Volunteers support newly arrived clients to meet their immediate needs through a variety of tasks.
Location:
Off-site in the Denver Metro, Aurora, or Northglenn area (exact location disclosed to volunteer).
Time Commitment:
This flexible position requests 2-4 hours per week. Tasks typically fall during weekdays during business hours, but can include evenings and weekends. Frequent emails are sent out to the team and volunteers sign-up for tasks each week that work best for their schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteers in this position have options to:
- Pick up and drop off food boxes to clients
- Take clients to pick up household goods and clothes from local donation centers
- Create welcome boxes for new arrivals in our office
- Assist with transportation from the airport to client’s temporary housing
- Deliver welcome boxes and set-up temporary housing
- Drop off rent checks to leasing offices and deliver food boxes, documentation, and other items from the IRC to clients’ homes
- Transport clients from temporary housing to their permanent housing
Skills & Qualifications:
The Resettlement Support Volunteer must have:
- A strong desire to work with diverse populations and must demonstrate patience with English language learners.
- A driver's license, car, and auto insurance.
- Proof of up-to-date COVID vaccination
Please note that volunteers must undergo a background check for which we ask a donation of $49. All staff and volunteers at the IRC must be vaccinated against the COVID 19 virus and agree to wear a mask when interacting with clients.

Volunteer Coordination Assistant
This volunteer position will support the volunteer and donations team with the onboarding of new volunteers and interns and with the ongoing maintenance of volunteer and intern programs at the IRC in Denver. Food Program Delivery Volunteer
Seeking volunteer delivery drivers who will work with our partner, Village Exchange Center, using their easy-to-navigate food delivery application to deliver bags of fresh produce, toiletries, meals, and more to Afghan clients each week.
Mentor
Support one-on-one as a mentor and help ease a refugee family or individual’s transition into their new community. Mentors will focus on a refugee’s English acquisition, socialization of American culture, and integration into the local community. Based on each client’s needs and relationship, mentors and mentees can cook together, schedule follow-up medical appointments, visit local attractions, parks, farmer’s markets, the library and museums. Mentors may also support in opening bank accounts, learning where to pay bills, navigating transportation, and more. Mentors and mentees will establish boundaries and expectations in an initial meeting with an IRC staff member and interpreter in order to better understand needs.
New Roots Garden Volunteer
The New Roots Volunteers work with refugee clients from differing backgrounds and skills to support them in their gardening journey. It is an opportunity for our newest neighbors to grow food to feed their families and reconnect with their cultural heritage and new communities.
