Location: In and around greater Richmond.
Time Commitment: Self-determined; varies based on family size and chosen outing.
Responsibilities: By learning about their new city, refugees will gain confidence to explore on their own and better integrate into their new home. Consider low- or no-cost outings such as the Richmond Public Library, Byrd Park, the Children’s Museum or visiting Maymont and the James River.
Skills/Qualifications: Most importantly, volunteers should be welcoming and eager to help newly-arrived refugees settle into their new Richmond community. Volunteers should also be culturally sensitive and respectful of diverse backgrounds, self-motivated and comfortable working with little supervision, and able to handle sensitive client information confidentially.
