Youth are often times among the most underserved populations among refugees resettled in the US. In order to boost self-confidence, bridge the gap in cultural orientaiton, and to provide a space for support among refugee youth, the IRC in Abilene launched a youth program in June of 2016 and serves refugee and immigrant youth between the ages of 12 and 17.
Our biggest need is volunteers that can transport youth to and from support groups.
Support groups meet every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Ready to start?
To become a volunteer, you will be asked to fill out an application, complete a background check and attend an orientation. Volunteers must be 18 years-old or older.
