Great last-minute gift: A flock of chickens
December 21, 2011
By The IRC
The IRC has provided families who were uprooted by the worst floods in Pakistan’s history with fertilizer, wheat seeds, poultry and livestock.

A small flock of chickens can have a huge effect on a family’s fortunes: eggs can be used for meals, or women can sell them in local markets to earn cash for other needs, such as repairing the house or sending children to school. Chickens are relatively low-maintenance animals, which is an important consideration for families who’ve lost everything in disasters like the Pakistan floods. The International Rescue Committee provide chickens to families so they can take charge of their own recovery.
Dedicate a Flock of Chickens
$30 can deliver eight chickens to a family caught in crisis, giving them a much-needed boost in food production and household earnings.
This holiday season, give an IRC Rescue Gift to someone special. Rescue Gifts save lives.
