Feb. 14: Join us to help end violence against women
February 12, 2013
By The IRC
On Thursday, February 14, International Rescue Committee staff members across the United States and around the world are joining One Billion Rising, to dance, rise up and demand an end to violence and sexual abuse against women and girls.
From Abilene, Texas to London, England to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo, IRC staff and the people we assist will join flash mobs, dance in our offices, in refugee classrooms, and down the halls to show our solidarity with this movement.
One Billion Rising is so-called in recognition of the one billion women on the planet who will endure sexual violence and abuse in their lifetimes — and the one billion people who are being called on to rise up, dance, and say, “Enough. The violence ends now.”
Join us: check OneBillionRising.org to find an event near you, or start your own! If you're in NYC, we invite you to meet IRC staff and supporters at the fountain in City Hall park at 3:30pm and dance with us across the Brooklyn Bridge — details here.

I understand that genital

I understand that genital cutting is slowly being abandoned, but what can WE do to encourage and speed the ending of this inhumane, dangerously unhealthy, and exceedingly sexually biased practice ?
