Mothers' Stories: Prisca Mondo, Ivory Coast
Prisca Mondo with two-month-old Daria.
In honor of Mother's Day — Sunday, May 8 — we're spotlighting some of our favorite stories about mothers:
Across West Africa, millions of babies are born each year without a birth certificate.
In the Ivory Coast, Prisca Mondo, 18, worried that without this piece of paper her baby daughter would not have a legal identity. With the International Rescue Committee's help she was able to register two-month-old Daria, securing her access to education and health services, and protecting her future.
You can watch Prisca's story here.
