For decades, the United States has provided protection to refugees and asylees who face persecution because of their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion. Call the Senate Judiciary Committee today in support of a bill that would improve these protections. more »

When fire swept through the Ban Mae Surin camp on March 22, thirteen-year old Sha Nay Htoo’s immediate reaction was not to flee the flames, but to help rescue other refugees. Today, Sha Nay is lying in a hospital bed with third degree burns over most of his body. more »

The IRC is saddened to report that La Say Paw, a laboratory technician with the IRC’s refugee partner organization, the Karenni Health Department, was killed on March 22 in the blaze that took the lives of 36 others and injured over 200 in the Ban Mae Surin refugee camp in northwest Thailand. more »

Naget fled shelling in the Syrian city of Homs ten months ago. In February her family became one of the first to join the IRC’s cash distribution program, which provides debit cards and funds for Syrian refugees in Lebanon to use on basic necessities. more »
