The previous Global Refugee Forum in 2019 garnered more than 1,400 pledges and initiatives - but, since then, only a third of these have been reported as being fulfilled. Meanwhile, the number of refugees globally has reached 35.8 million at the start of 2023 - a jump of 35% in just one year.
