Peter Biro
Senior Communications Officer
Currently based in Thailand, Peter Biro is the senior communications officer for the IRC. Mr. Biro reports on the IRC’s humanitarian aid programs, which has taken him to Afghanistan, Chad, Congo, Indonesia, Liberia, Nepal, Pakistan and Sudan, among other countries. Several news outlets including CNN, BBC, The Huffington Post, Reuters and Slate have published his articles, photographs and blogs.
Mr. Biro began working for the IRC in 2003, initially serving as a communications officer in Baghdad following the invasion of Iraq. Prior to joining the IRC, he worked for the United Nations in Cambodia, East Timor, Kosovo and Sierra Leone, and as a print journalist and photographer in Europe and Southeast Asia. Mr. Biro graduated from Lund University in Sweden with degrees in political science and journalism.
