VOICES FROM THE FIELDTHE IRC BLOG
Introducing Rescue.org
We've traveled a long road together. Farewell, theIRC.org ...
My colleagues and I are very pleased to introduce Rescue.org, the International Rescue Committee’s new website address.
Starting today, Rescue.org replaces theIRC.org, which has been the IRC’s online address since 2000.
Not only does the URL change add "impact to our online digital identity by connecting it directly to our name and the work we do” (in the words of our senior VP of external relations), it also has the potential to save countless hours on the phone:
Caller: "What is your website address?"
IRC staffer: "It's 't.h.e.i.r.c.dot.org'"
Caller: "Sorry, could you repeat that?"
IRC staffer: "Of course. It's 't.h.e....'"
Caller: "Is that 'd' as in 'David'?"
IRC staffer: "No, 't' as in 'Thomas.'"
And so on... until Rescue.org came to the rescue.
(But not to worry -- if you've bookmarked the IRC at our old address, you'll still be directed to our site.)
