It is the rainy season in Southern Sudan. The annual floods don’t make life any easier in an area already struggling to recover from decades of civil war. But this year, the flooding was unusually severe. I recently had a chance to travel with an IRC mobile clinic team and speak with families who have been displaced by the floods. more »

Angelina was 16 years old when her mother told her that she would have to get married. She had already agreed on a husband for her daughter, a man in the village. Angelina didn’t know this man, but he owned a lot of cows — cows that her family needed for their livelihood. more »

Thanks to all of you who signed the IRC Petition to Keep Humanitarian Aid in Sudan. Amazingly, more than 28,000 people from around the world added their names during the petition drive from March 4 to April 6. Together we protested the Government of Sudan’s decision to close lifesaving aid programs in Darfur. more »
