Ruben Chandrasekar is executive director of the IRC’s office in Baltimore, Maryland, and manager of community integration, supervising cultural orientation, safety and security, and immigration and community interpreter programs . He joined the IRC in Baltimore in 2010 as coordinator of its program for the Bhutanese community.   

Before joining the IRC, Mr. Chandrasekar had eight years of experience managing programs and services for immigrant and refugee workers. 
Mr. Chandrasekar studied in Kenya and Costa Rica as an undergraduate and earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in international studies and sociology. He has a master's degree in sociology with a concentration in labor and migration. He has completed coursework and is working towards a Ph.D. in labor, political economy and migration. 
Mr. Chandrasekar was born in Chennai, India, and came to the U.S. at the age of 15. His own experiences and challenges fuel his passion for assisting immigrants and refugees.
