Safe routes to protection not only help refugees rebuild their lives, but enable countries to welcome people seeking safety in a humane and orderly way. As the 2023 Global Refugee Forum takes place this month, the IRC is calling on EU countries to ensure more #SafeRoutesNow by scaling up refugee resettlement commitments and other pathways to protection.

  Since the last European elections in 2019, the world has changed dramatically. The number of people in humanitarian need has more than doubled to nearly 300 million. Displacement has soared by almost 40% to 110 million. And the global population facing acute food insecurity has risen by 160% to almost 350 million.
