Where do my donations go?

At the International Rescue Committee, we know it is important to our supporters that our donations are spent wisely. Currently, we spend: 87% on programme services, 8% on administration and 5% on fundraising. That means of every $1 the IRC spends, more than 87 cents goes to programmes and services that directly benefit refugees and communities affected by conflict or disaster. You can find detailed information about our financials on our website: https://www.rescue.org/report/2022-annual-report.

Can I donate to a particular country or project?

We know that certain causes can hold a special place in supporter’s hearts. If you would like to discuss restricting your donation, please email [email protected] and a member of the team will get back to you within 2 working days.

Can I donate supplies?

We are grateful for offers of donations of supplies. However, we are not able to accept gifts of goods or supplies. Wherever possible we try to procure goods and services close to the communities we serve; this helps us to make sure our projects are good value for money and can keep the local economy moving after a crisis.
If you would like to support refugees in other ways, why not make a donation or fundraise on behalf of the IRC.

Can I get my donation refunded?

For donations made to the IRC in error, please contact us at +1(212) 551-2982 or via email to [email protected].

Please note that all refunds are returned using the original method of payment. We will review and process refund requests for donations made within 90 days of your initial gift to the IRC.
