    Dr Imogen Sudbery: Executive Director, IRC Belgium / Senior Director, Advocacy & Influence

    Imogen is the Executive Director of IRC Belgium, and heads up the IRC EU office. Having worked with the EU institutions for over 25 years in different capacities, she is is currently driving the IRC in Brussels with the aim of ensuring that EU policy, legislation and funding meet the needs of those affected by conflict and disaster.

    Dr Marta Welander: Director, EU Advocacy

    Marta directs the IRC’s advocacy vis-à-vis the EU institutions and oversees the work of the EU advocacy team based in Brussels. Before joining the IRC, Marta founded and ran the organisation Refugee Rights Europe (RRE), and has worked with various advocacy efforts including for organisations such as Girls Not Brides, Frontline Defenders and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network.

    Lorenzo Angelini: Senior EU Advocacy Adviser-Humanitarian and Conflict

    Lorenzo leads our work to improve the lives of people affected by conflict and disaster, in particular women and girls. He has a special focus on fragile and conflict-affected settings, including Sudan, the Sahel region and Afghanistan. Alongside this, Lorenzo leads our work on climate action, malnutrition, humanitarian access, reform of multilateral development banks (MDBs), and the need for better synergies between EU development and humanitarian efforts.

    Meron Ameha Knikman: Senior EU Advocacy Adviser-Resettlement, Asylum, Integration

    Meron leads our work to uphold the rights of people on the move, pressing for solutions to the challenges refugees and displaced people in Europe face. She closely monitors the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, with a particular focus on scaling up refugee resettlement under the new Union Resettlement Framework. Drawing on IRC’s knowledge and experience of working in Greece, Italy, Poland, Germany and the Balkans, she drives the EU agenda toward more effective policies on asylum and integration.

    Pernilla Ekholm: EU Advocacy Coordinator

    Pernilla plays a key role in supporting the EU Advocacy team across geographic and thematic portfolios. She is responsible for events, briefings and meeting coordination, and supports the team’s stakeholder engagement. She also follows developments relating to the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

    Natalie Stanton: Communications Manager

    Natalie leads on communications for the IRC’s EU office. This includes amplifying the IRC’s EU advocacy asks in the media, and overseeing our X and LinkedIn channels. She leads on crafting press releases, op-eds, social media campaigns, and organising events and exhibitions to ensure the IRC’s messages reach their intended audiences.
