Alongside IRC aid workers, Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with refugees stranded on the Greek island of Lesbos.

International Rescue Committee president, David Miliband, witnesses first­hand the refugee crisis on the Greek island of Lesbos where up to 3,000 refugees are arriving daily. “Lesbos is the eye of the storm for the European refugee crisis,” he said. “And the IRC is the leading aid agency  providing the most basic welcome.”

On a return visit to the Greek island of Lesbos, which he first visited in November, 2015, Mandy met with refugees at Kara Tepe who are stranded here, caught in a desperate and lengthy limbo as they wait to know the fate of their asylum claims. 

When he visited the Greek island of Lesbos, actor and IRC ambassador Mandy Patinkin bonded with a Syrian family living in a refugee camp. More than a year later, he returned to Europe with his wife, Kathryn Grody, to pay a visit to the family, who have started a new life in Germany.

Alongside International Rescue Committee aid workers in Greece, he met families who had fled Syria and other war­torn countries in hopes of finding a better life for their children in Europe. “Standing with them, I did not see strangers to be feared but the faces and stories of my own family.
