The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Flora Alexander as the new Executive Director of IRC UK.

Flora brings over two decades of experience across the humanitarian and social impact sectors, having held senior roles in global organisations including UNICEF and Save the Children UK. Most recently, she served as IRC’s global Vice President of Advocacy & Influence, where she led the organisation’s efforts to influence political and policy change with and for people affected by conflict and crisis.

In her new role, Flora will lead the IRC’s work in the United Kingdom, raising awareness, growing vital funding, and advocating for solutions for our clients around the world, as well as delivering programmes here in the UK.

Speaking about her new role as UK Executive Director, Flora Alexander said:

“We are living through an era of unprecedented global need, with more people displaced by conflict, climate shocks and economic instability than at any point in modern history. IRC’s mission is more important than ever, and we must meet this moment with urgency, focus and compassion. I’m honoured to lead the IRC in the UK, supporting our extraordinary teams as they help people survive, recover and rebuild their lives - including delivering frontline support for refugees here in the UK.

I'm particularly focused on strengthening our partnerships across the UK and amplifying the voices of those we serve. The generosity and engagement of our UK supporters make our work possible, and together we can make a meaningful difference for communities facing conflict, crisis and displacement."

Dr Titilola Banjoko, Chair of the IRC UK Board, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Flora as Executive Director of IRC UK at such a critical moment for our organisation and the wider humanitarian sector. Flora brings deep experience in global advocacy, strategy and partnerships, and a strong commitment to the IRC’s mission. Her vision, energy and values are exactly what we need as we navigate today’s complex challenges and look to strengthen our impact and influence in the UK and beyond.”
