Josh has experience working as a teacher in UK secondary schools and internationally in crisis contexts. Building on this, he worked with the Minister for Schools on the Covid-19 response and the Initial Teacher Training Review before joining the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in early 2022.
Drawing on his knowledge of the UK education system—both as a teacher and a civil servant—together with his international experience in crisis settings, Josh launched the IRC’s first education programmes. These included the trauma-informed Healing Classrooms and Healing Spaces, as well as adult ESOL and VESOL provision. He now manages the IRC’s Community Sponsorship training programme.
