London, United Kingdom, April 23, 2026 — Responding to the UK Government’s latest asylum deal with France, Denisa Delic, UK Advocacy Director, said,
“The Government has stated it wants an asylum system defined by both control and compassion – but this deal risks delivering neither. Enforcement measures will not stop people fleeing war and persecution in Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran and Eritrea from risking their lives in the Channel.Without safe, accessible routes at meaningful scale as part of the solution, we will continue to see further senseless deaths at sea and disorder at the border.”
