Overview

Purpose: This session will strengthen your ability to support resettled families with sensitivity to trauma and cultural context. This session focuses on recognising potential causes of trauma, applying trauma-informed approaches, and fostering cultural humility to ensure inclusive and respectful support.

Course Content:

The course is built to help you achieve the following 4 R's of Trauma-Informed Care:

  1. Realise that trauma affects displaced people due to major causes in both past and present
  2. Recognise the ways someone may show signs of trauma
  3. Respond with trauma-informed approaches
  4. Resist re-traumatisation for yourself and others by shifting from cultural competence to cultural humility
