Overview
Purpose: This session will strengthen your ability to support resettled families with sensitivity to trauma and cultural context. This session focuses on recognising potential causes of trauma, applying trauma-informed approaches, and fostering cultural humility to ensure inclusive and respectful support.
Course Content:
The course is built to help you achieve the following 4 R's of Trauma-Informed Care:
- Realise that trauma affects displaced people due to major causes in both past and present
- Recognise the ways someone may show signs of trauma
- Respond with trauma-informed approaches
- Resist re-traumatisation for yourself and others by shifting from cultural competence to cultural humility
Audience & Prerequisites
- Who should attend: Community Sponsorship Groups members involved in direct support of families.
- Prerequisites: Introduction to Data Management, Part 1: The Application, Safeguarding, Pre-Arrival: The First 72 Hours, Post-Arrival Support
- Pre-session materials: To be provided.
