Overview
Purpose: This session will strengthen your ability to support resettled families with sensitivity to trauma and cultural context. This session focuses on recognising potential causes of trauma, applying trauma-informed approaches, and fostering cultural humility to ensure inclusive and respectful support.
Course Content:
- Introduction to trauma-informed principles.
- Potential causes of trauma in refugee and resettlement contexts.
- Recognising and responding to signs of trauma.
- Practical tools and approaches for trauma-informed care.
- The role of culture in shaping lives, beliefs, and expectations.
- Techniques for cultural competence and humility.
- Addressing unconscious bias and building inclusive relationships.
Audience & Prerequisites
- Who should attend: Community Sponsorship Groups members involved in direct support of families.
- Prerequisites: Introduction to Data Management, Part 1: The Application, Safeguarding, Pre-Arrival: The First 72 Hours, Post-Arrival Support
