Eight years of war in Syria has devastated the entire country. But instead of recounting hardships, Syrian girls living in Jordan talk about their dreams, ambitions, abilities… and their favourite things.

This assessment aims to fill a gap in available data about protection vulnerabilities faced by Syrian refugee men in Lebanon.

“People used to tell me, I wish I had your strength,” Rahima says. “I’ve been through a lot of hardships in my life, even if I fall down a hundred times, I’ll get back up again.”

Volunteering at an IRC-run clinic in Jordan has given this Syrian mother hope to aspire for a better future.

Since mid-2013, the International Rescue Committee has promoted community awareness about violence against women, setting up services for survivors and supporting health workers. Dr. Ahmed is one of several key staffers at the IRC-supported health facility in Mogadishu, where the first survivor of sexual violence sought support in February 2014. Since then, the IRC team has helped more than 30 survivors.
