Background

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 50 countries, the IRC aims to restore safety, dignity, and hope to millions uprooted and struggling to endure.

In Italy and Germany, IRC focuses on protection, economic well-being, education and empowerment, and is currently implementing an AMIF- funded project on anti-trafficking.

Context of the Assignment

The DIRECT project (Develop coordInation with migRants to Enhance inClusion of Trafficked persons) aims at facilitating the early identification of victims of trafficking in persons and increasing prevention through the collaboration with migrant-led organizations, as well as promoting the integration of third-country national victims of trafficking. The project is implemented in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Greece.

As part of the DIRECT project, in Italy IRC will train first responders working in reception centers and migrant-led organizations to increase their capacity to support unaccompanied minors and women who are mothers at risk or victims of trafficking. The training will provide the staff with theoretical and practical tools on child protection, with a focus on adolescents with a migration background, child trafficking and life skills development group sessions, and on parenting support.

Purpose of the Assignment

IRC is currently looking for one facilitator who will deliver training on child protection and on parenting, based on the IRC existing training packages, to first responders working in reception centers, partner organizations, and migrant-led organizations offering direct support services, in Sicily and potentially in Lombardy and Lazio.
