The Women’s Economic Empowerment Volunteer Corps is a group of volunteers engaged in supporting female refugee and asylum-seeking clients, served by the IRC, in identifying employment and unique and non-traditional career opportunities. While all IRC clients are assigned to a Specialist on our Employment team to help with immediate job placements, many female clients experience additional barriers to employment, including childcare needs and full-time home-making responsibilities. Volunteers of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Volunteer Corps will be assigned to women who require more intensive support with job searches in specialized fields, including women who have limited formal work experience outside the home.
