For the fourth year running, the Dallas community has shown our refugee and immigrant families just how welcoming our city can be.  Home for the Holidays, our annual in-kind donations event, has expanded to help 60 families during this holiday season. That is 243 mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters whose lives were changed by our community.

From winter coats, to LEGOs, to laundry baskets, to sewing machines, we saw more than $30,000 worth of gifts delivered to refugee families in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

As we dropped off gifts to these families, donors and refugees shared in joy, laughter, and the simple act of connecting with another human that filled any void created by language.

This year, the donors ranged from long-time IRC supporters to people who have also fled persecution and war. The IRC in Dallas was grateful to see neighbors, friends, recent college graduates, local business owners, neighborhood book clubs, and people who just "needed to do something good" help out this year.

Thank you to all of our donors and volunteers for continuing to be a welcoming beacon for refugees and immigrants during the holidays and all year long.
