FAQs

Is your donation tax deductible?

Yes, 100% of your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by US law. Your donation is made via our partnership with Every.org, a tax-exempt US 501(c)(3) charity that grants unrestricted funds to the IRC on your behalf. As a legal matter, Every.org must provide any donations to the IRC on an unrestricted basis, regardless of any designations or restrictions made by you.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes, after your donation payment is confirmed via our partner, Every.org, you will immediately get a receipt emailed to you. Additionally, if you have an Every.org account, you can always get a single itemized receipt that shows all your donations made through Every.org in a given year.

For Crypto, as soon as the donation is confirmed on the blockchain, you will automatically be sent a receipt via email. Depending on the type of cryptocurrency, confirmation can take anywhere from a few seconds to 30 minutes.

How do I donate donor-advised funds?

Once you're ready to donate, please visit our dedicated IRC donor-advised funds page available through our partner, Every.org. You have the option to either recommend a donor-advised fund grant online through Every.org or by contacting your fund manager. Our Federal Tax ID Number is: 13-5660870

Please ask your DAF representative to include your name and address on the distribution so we can thank you for your generosity and send you updates on the progress your support makes possible.

Once you’re ready to donate, please visit our dedicated IRC crypto page available through our partner, Every.org. There, you will be asked to choose the type of coin you want to give. Which cryptocurrencies does the IRC accept?

Can I donate crypto anonymously?

No, the IRC does not accept anonymous crypto donations.

What happens to my cryptocurrency once it is donated to the IRC?

Every.org uses  a payment gateway to handle receiving cryptocurrency donations. When you donate, Every.org automatically sells your crypto donation and sends you a receipt. The gift amount is reduced by the current network fee for transfer as well as the fees charged by Every.org’s broker (currently 1%). Finally, Every.org sends the full realized value of the donation to the IRC.

Yes, donating cryptocurrency to the IRC is safe and secure! The IRC’s crypto partner, Every.org, has industry-leading security controls to ensure a safe and trusted fundraising platform and is subject to global regulator security requirements.
