The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) helps local small businesses prosper by delivering no-cost business assistance to small business owners and entrepreneurs through in-language technical assistance, training, and access to microloans to support entrepreneurs to start or expand their business, with a focus on helping refugees, immigrants and individuals from underserved communities.

Upcoming Events  

County of San Diego Contracting Series - The County of San Diego has formed a collaborative partnership with the San Diego & Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network to develop a training series designed to help small businesses and organizations learn how to do business with the County. The program consists of six modules and there will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions. Participants may sign up for all six modules or choose the ones that are most relevant. Sessions take place the 2nd Friday of each month from 3-5pm starting December 11, 2020 (with the exception of the February session, which will take place on the preceding Thursday).

  • To help you prepare; we highly recommend (if you have not already) that you participate in our On Demand Government Contracting Series starting with Module 1: Establishing a Foundation for Success.  To register for module 1 go to https://sdsbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events?reset=1 and search using “Establishing a Foundation” as the keywords.  After each module, you will receive the registration link for the follow on module.  Module 9 will provide you with instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

  • IRC SBDC Resource Directory: Click here to see a list of available funding resources for businesses affected by COVID-19. 
  • The Small Business Stimulus Grant: The Small Business Stimulus Grant Program is funded by Board of Supervisors allocated federal CARES Act funding. The grant funding provides economic assistance to help businesses and nonprofit entities impacted by COVID-19. Financial assistance will be allocated to eligible, qualified small businesses and nonprofit entities with final award recommendations made by individual district offices based on the availability of funds, program guidelines, and the submission of all required information and supporting documentation.

Grant Application Now Open - Check your Eligibility & Apply

  • Applications are now open for eligible businesses, subject to availability of funding. If you have applied previously, you do not need to reapply.
  • Apply for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan by 12/31: In response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, small business owners, including agricultural businesses, and nonprofit organizations in all U.S. states, Washington D.C., and territories can apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan. The EIDL program is designed to provide economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Learn more here
