Calling all fruit tree owners in South King County! You can support the IRC's exciting new partnership between City Fruit by registering your trees and sharing part of your fruit harvest with refugee families in our community.

City Fruit is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use urban fruit trees to their fullest, so that everyone in our community shares in the value of fruit. As part of their recent "Harvest for All" expansion campaign, City Fruit now serves all neighborhoods in the city of Seattle, as well as some South King County communities, including SeaTac, Burien, Renton, Des Moines, Tukwila, and Kent.

Harvests in South King County will be conducted in partnership with the IRC’s New Root program, which promotes food access and nutrition among refugee and immigrant communities. New Roots builds on the agricultural experience of  newly-arrived refugee and immigrant families by providing access to land, materials, and education for program participants to grow healthy food.

Through this partnership, City Fruit will train IRC gardeners who will be the primary harvesters in South King County, while City Fruit will manage tree owner outreach, tree registrations, and data management. For their service, the harvested fruit will be donated back to the IRC gardeners and they will get to decide how the fruit will be used.

Be a part of this great program by registering your trees with City Fruit today!
