The second class of IRC in NY's POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Resilience) professional community interpreters graduated on March 30th, 2017. The group consisted of 24 women from over 20 different countries, who collectively speak 21 languages. Many participants have already begun working as interpreters and translators with professional interpretation agencies prior to their graduation, while others are just starting their job search in this industry.

The POWER Program is a women’s economic empowerment program that combines vocational, job readiness, and financial literacy training with one-on-one employment and financial counseling services to assist immigrant women in developing their careers in the United States. The program offers vocational training in three areas: interpretation, food and agriculture, and childcare.
