The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is deeply concerned about the latest mass attacks on Kyiv and Odesa in the early morning hours of Tuesday, 10 June. The assault involved ballistic missiles and drones, triggering explosions across the capital and the southern port city, causing significant casualties and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.

According to local authorities, the attack in Kyiv resulted in the death of one woman and left four others injured. In Odesa, two men were killed, at least eight civilians were wounded, and one person suffered shock due to the attack. Among the damaged structures in Odesa were a film studio and critical medical facilities, including a maternity hospital.

The maternity hospital, sheltering 85 adults and 22 children at the time, sustained significant damage from the attack. Thanks to prompt sheltering procedures, no patients or staff were harmed.

Lillia Yashyk, IRC Community Nurse in Odesa, shared firsthand insights:

"We were among the first responders after the shelling. The destruction was overwhelming — homes and cars destroyed, entire streets losing windows, and some buildings with roofs blown off. The atmosphere was tense and frightening. People were visibly in shock. One woman told me her neighbor had been killed. Several buildings are now unsafe, preventing residents from returning home. Many families have lost their homes and are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance."

The IRC has been actively working on the ground in Odesa, providing critical psychological first aid, distributing emergency kits with essential supplies, and focusing support on vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
