Each year, the IRC hosts a job fair to connect immigrants with employment opportunities at companies who want to provide jobs to refugees.

From 1960 to 1967, the IRC helped people fleeing Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Angola, Uganda, and Nigeria. After Castro's rise to power, it soon become one of the principal agencies helping Cubans to reach America

Forty refugee girls participated in a day of activities for International Day of the Girl hosted by the International Rescue Committee and Girl Scouts – Arizona Cactus-Pine Council.

When Eielnata started first grade in a local elementary school this fall, she had a new backpack filled with school supplies. Over the years, the IRC has worked with many community groups and individuals to provide new backpacks and other needed items to support refugees and immigrants as they start school in Baltimore.

The IRC in Salt Lake City's education team led a hike to Donut Falls, one of many activities organized to support refugee youth as they settle into life in Utah.

Bae Shae and Sui arrived in Texas as refugees eleven years ago. This year, the two women voted for the first time.

In 1991, Muyambo Marcel Chishimba was forced to flee his home in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Today, he is rebuilding his life—and his art career—in New Jersey. 

Before the Refugee Act of 1980 standardized refugee resettlement through the use of resettlement agencies, such as the International Rescue Committee, resettlement was largely conducted privately or through community groups. With the increasing numbers and enthusiasm of local community groups offering to partner to resettle refugees, IRC is committed to integrating community sponsorship programming at the local and national levels!
