Location: Silver Spring (IRC office)
Time Commitment:
Volunteers will choose from one of two time slots during regular business hours (9am-5pm) on Thursdays. Time slot options run 2-2.5 hours, morning and afternoon. Volunteers can sign up to attend once or on an ongoing basis week to week.
Responsibilities:
Work one on one with 2-3 refugees to support their digital literacy education in order to apply for jobs. Tasks might include showing clients how to:
- use email,
- use Zoom,
- Navigate job applications portals (like LinkedIn) in order to submit job applications,
- And answer questions from clients regarding the process of applying for jobs
Skills/Qualifications:
- Digital literacy skills - proficiency in using email platforms, Zoom, and navigating job portals
- Special language skills are a plus (Spanish, Arabic, French, Creole most commonly needed)
