Location: IRC in Charlottesville Office

Time Commitment: Minimum 4-month commitment. Minimum of 2 hours every week on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm.   

SCOPE OF WORK: The IRC houses a “Resettlement Store” where refugees can shop for donated items. Volunteers will assist refugees in the store and log items received. The store is currently open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-1pm.   

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Attend Volunteer Orientation

•Must undergo and pass a background check. The IRC kindly requests a $35 fee to assist in covering the cost of this requirement

•Assist clients in selecting items and keep detailed records of items received. 

•Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Able to work with minimal supervision

•Comfortable working in a multicultural environment

•Ability to stand and work for duration of 2 hour shift

•Ability to lift 30 lbs. 

•Flexible, able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Reliable, responsible, able to complete tasks within required time-frame

•Must be located in Charlottesville, Virginia
