A refugee child receives gifts in Texas for the holidays

As the weather finally turns colder, it is time that we start thinking how we all can help out this holiday season. This week the IRC is officially kicking off our Adopt a Family Holiday Giving Program.

Last year, with the help of our community, we provided over $45,000 worth of gifts to 346 newly arrived refugees! This year, we, once again, invite you to show our refugee families that they are welcome and wanted in America.

Families, church groups, work groups, indviduals, and friends have adopted over 120 families in the last few years. During Adopt A Family, we match members of the community with of our newly-arrived families. The community members will receive a wish list from the refugee family. On an assigned day, gifts will either be dropped off at the office or delivered directly to the family.

To join us, please email [email protected] and recieve an application. In order to ensure delivery before the holidays, apply by November 19th! Applications will continue to be accepted throughout the holidays.
