Often times when refugees arrive in Wichita, they bring very little with them. In our office from time to time we see our clients carrying their personal documents, cash or keys with them in their pockets or in grocery sacks. For clients going to work, whether walking, bicycling or riding the bus, this presents a bigger challenge as they try to keep their personal items safe and organized during their work day.

Thanks to generosity of the members of St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral for donating “Adult Work Bags” for refugees resettling in Wichita. Each backpack includes a lunch box, water bottle, notebook and pens, a first aid kit, umbrella, lunch box, a watch and a gift card for work appropriate shoes or clothes.

The back packs will be given to IRC’s newest clients to help ease their navigation during their first few months in Wichita. The backpacks will not only make our client’s lives a little easier and more organized, but are sure to bring a smile to their face. Thank you to St. George’s Orthodox Christian Cathedral for standing by us to make #RefugeesWelcome in Wichita.
