As the weather finally turns colder, it is time that we start thinking how we all can help out this holiday season. The IRC in Dallas is officially kicking off our Home for the Holidays giving program this November.

Last year, with the help of our community, we provided over $23,000 worth of gifts to 242 newly-arrived refugees! We once again invite you to show our refugee families that they are welcome and wanted in America.

Like everything in 2020, Home for the Holidays looks different this year. We hope that next year we will get to come back to our old welcoming ways but in order to protect our community, our families, and our staff members, significant changes have been made.

Unlike in the past, we will not be matching members of the community with a newly arrived family. A wish list for an individual family will not be received.

Instead we are asking that our supporters purchase gifts from our Amazon Wish Listmade specifically for Home for the Holidays 2020.

Included on the list are annual favorites that nearly all our families, no matter where they come from, find useful and make their lives fuller and richer. Items vary from electric kettles and sewing machines to smart phones and computers.

VISA gift cards on the list enable our families to purchase exactly the items they need and want. We are also accepting digital gift cards for Walmart  and Target that can be sent directly to [email protected].

Upon receipt of gifts, the IRC in Dallas will invite families to virtually shop. Based on family size and needs, we will then distribute gifts using contactless COVID-19 protocols.
