The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is now offering live, online weekly classes available nationwide in a variety of topics focused on providing remote support to refugees and other immigrants during the pandemic and economic crisis for free. With a live teacher and interpreter, class attendees gain access to a variety of classes, including Vocational ESL, Job Readiness, and Financial Capability. Each class will be taught in multiple languages each week to increase access for the diverse communities we serve.

Classes offered include:

Vocational ESL 

Classes available from August 24-September 18, 2020.

Beginner Level: In this class, individuals with little to no English will have the opportunity to build their speaking and listening skills to prepare for success at work.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12-1:30pm CST

Intermediate Level: In this class, individuals who have basic speaking and listening skills can strengthen their English to support success at work.

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 11-12pm CST 

Job Readiness during COVID-19

Classes available from August 4-27, 2020.

In this class, individuals will have the opportunity to strengthen the knowledge and skills they need to find and keep a job with a special emphasis on preparing for work in the dynamic COVID-19 context.

Spanish: Tuesdays from 3-4pm CST

Arabic: Wednesdays from 3-4pm CST

Swahili: Thursdays from 3-4pm CST

Financial Capabilities

In these classes, individuals will develop foundational knowledge and skills to help them make good financial decisions, especially during the economic hardship of COVID-19.

Arabic: Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30pm CST 

Spanish: Thursdays from 1-3pm CST 

Dari: Fridays from 4:30-6:30pm CST
