This Thanksgiving, the IRC in Dallas invites our community to come together in gratitude and generosity by helping provide holiday meals for refugee and immigrant families who are rebuilding their lives in North Texas. For many of our clients, this will be their very first Thanksgiving in the United States—a chance to experience the warmth of community, the comfort of shared food, and the sense of belonging that makes the season so special.
Your contribution ensures that every newcomer family has access to fresh groceries, culturally familiar ingredients, and the joy of preparing a meal that feels like home. Instead of collecting physical food items, this year’s drive focuses entirely on monetary donations, which allow us to purchase food directly for families and distribute grocery gift cards that reflect their unique dietary needs and traditions. This approach helps us offer flexibility, dignity, and choice—allowing families to celebrate in ways that are meaningful to them.
