In September, the IRC met with a group of students and teachers from Goddard Eisenhower High School. The students wanted to learn about the work of the IRC and ways in which they could contribute to the needs of the refugee population in our community. Students toured the IRC office and received a presentation about the services IRC provides, history of refugee services and ways in which they could contribute. As a result of the student’s ambition and interest, they decided to carry out a donation drive at their school.

To initiate the project, the students conducted presentations in classes throughout the school, sharing what they had learned and encouraging others to join in. As a result of their efforts the students collected more than 400 hygiene and cleaning items that were donated to IRC and by extension, the refugee clients that IRC serves. The staff and clients at the IRC all the students at  Eisenhower High School a BIG THANK YOU for their hard work, contribution and for their commitment to making #RefugeesWelcome in Wichita!
