The IRC in Richmond proudly announces the expansion of services to survivors of human trafficking. While the office has long supported survivors, a new grant from the U.S. Department of Justice supports the creation of a specialized program to provide services to adults and minors who have experienced labor and/or sex trafficking within eight different regions in Central Virginia. This direct assistance will be accompanied by community outreach to identify survivors and raise awareness in under-serviced communities as well as work alongside stakeholders to pinpoint areas where IRC can best offer anti-trafficking support. While still in an early stage of development, this program will eventually join those in 13 other IRC offices that assist survivors of trafficking.
