Hanat Balimuttajjo teaches the Vocational ESL class at the IRC's Modesto office on June 6.

Hanat Balimuttajjo has served the IRC in Turlock/Modesto as a volunteer since September 2018. A native of Uganda who grew up in England, Hanat taught English in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia before coming to the United States in December 2017.

The following profile is taken from an interview with IRC volunteer Seleyna Milliot.

"Hello, I am Hanat Balimuttajjo and I am a volunteer. I was born in Uganda and raised in England.
I became a volunteer at the IRC because I used to teach English in the Middle East and I missed it. Learning English helps our clients get out of isolation, which suits my need to help others. I have been helping the IRC and its clients by helping them resettle in the Central Valley, gathering and picking up donations, helping recruit volunteers and interns, and teaching English and job readiness. In return, I feel great! I feel at home.
I believe becoming a volunteer helps you grow into a better person. It is truly an opportunity to learn, and the IRC will push you as high as possible."
