Garlic shoots poking out at New Roots Farm. Garlic grows over the winter and begins to bulb as the days get longer. It will be harvested in June when the stalks flop over and begin to dry.

Even as the cold weather and snow continue to fall in Charlottesville, New Roots is busy planning and preparing for the 2021 growing season! Renewal applications were officially released at the start of February, giving returning gardeners the opportunity to return to their previous garden plots. Applications for first time gardeners seeking a plot with New Roots will be released at the start of March. If you have any questions about the upcoming season, please contact [email protected].
