From October to December 2024, volunteer-run used bookstore, The Novel Refuge, pledged 100% of its profits to the IRC in Silver Spring, raising $1,000 to support newcomers in Maryland.
Based in Laurel, Maryland, The Novel Refuge offers a great selection of gently-used books, games and puzzles—purchases that directly give back to the community. The IRC in Silver Spring extends a heartfelt thank you to volunteer, Kathy Bittinger, who leads the program for her leadership. We’re grateful for your commitment to the IRC and the impact you’ve made contributing to the success of newcomers to Maryland.
