IRC in Richmond staff has been busy making socially-distant, safe porch deliveries to clients. Thanks to a grant from Marino Philanthropies we are providing laptops that will keep our newest neighbors connected remotely to English language learning volunteer tutors and online resources. Clients have been virtually attending job readiness training, health orientations, nutrition classes, and meeting with their caseworkers and employment specialists.

Studio Two Three, in collaboration with 1708 Gallery, Ufab, VCU Arts, VCU daVinci Center and The Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond is sewing fabric protective face coverings and donated 100 to the IRC in Richmond. Our staff created care packages that included instructions in the clients’ native language for proper wear, handling, and sanitization. Thanks to the partnership between The Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond, Reservoir Distillery and Hatch Kitchen RVA, every family member received a personal-sized bottle of hand sanitizer.

At a time when we are forced to physically keep our distance, these community bonds give us all strength to continue to serve.
