The support that Wizie provides to the Wichita office is instrumental in creating a framework for our clients resettled in Wichita.

As a volunteer who spends two days a week at the Wichita office, Wizie performs many tasks that help newly arrived refugees adjust to life in America, such as transportation to school enrollments and hospital appointments. Once, while transporting a family, Wizie discovered that the mother and her children had spent time in India and spoke Hindi. As a first generation Indian-American who speaks Hindi, Wizie was able to share a special bond with the family. On the ride home, they sang songs, shared nursery rhymes, and stories.

“I am driven to helping people who have experienced unspeakable persecution and violence and who have lived in refugee camps for years transition to America to pursue opportunity, happiness, and safety like all of our forefathers.”
